UFC welterweight Alex Morono felt rejuvenated in his own career after watching his teammate, Ricky Turcios win The Ultimate Fighter: Season 29.

Alex Morono and The Ultimate Fighter: Season 29 bantamweight winner Ricky Turcios share a special bond, as they train together in Houston, TX at Fortis MMA. During his UFC Vegas 36 pre-fight press conference, Morono explained why Turcios’ big win gives him added inspiration for his fight with David Zawada at the UFC Apex.

Morono is riding a ton of momentum after his dominant performance against UFC fan favorite Donald Cerrone at UFC Vegas 26 and looks to make it two wins in a row as he continues his climb up the UFC welterweight rankings.

After watching his teammate Turcios defeat Brady Hiestand in a three-round war for the TUF 29 bantamweight title, Morono said he feels rejuvenated and ready for the next challenges in his career.

“Showing up to fight week and helping him warm up, it got me really comfortable with the whole process,” Morono said. “I’m so comfortable and I can’t wait to step in there on Saturday. It’s going to play a pretty significant role in my fights going forward.”

Morono had been a relatively unknown welterweight prospect before his win against Cerrone, with an up-and-down tenure in the UFC that has included tough losses against former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Khaos Williams.

Morono will face Zawada in the third fight on the UFC Vegas 36 main card, with an opportunity to put on another stellar performance in the octagon.

UFC Vegas 36 takes place on Sept. 4, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
