Nintendo is releasing its $359.99 Switch OLED console with a special Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-inspired design this Friday, April 28. Once that day arrives, the hotly-anticipated game’s launch date will be a mere two weeks away. Just note that the $69.99 game does not come included with this Switch OLED.
We thought you might want to be reminded to secure one of these limited edition Switch OLEDs before the launch date. Based on the spotty availability of previous special edition Switch consoles, it’s possible that stock of the console could be in very short supply if you skip pre-ordering one. And considering that Tears of the Kingdom is set to be a huge launch, it’s possible that many long-time Switch owners who have pushed off the OLED upgrade may finally choose to jump on it with this model.
While this particular Switch OLED design is very cool, it’s functionally identical to other Switch OLED consoles. In case you’re not aware of what this model provides, their seven-inch OLED screen is bigger (and much more contrasty and glorious to look at) than the regular Switch’s 6.2-inch LCD screen. Additionally, the Switch OLED has twice the amount of internal storage (64 GB versus 32 GB), a better kickstand, and louder speakers. All else — including performance, the Joy Con controllers that it can use, and battery life. — is similar to the standard Switch.
There are plenty of other Switch accessories you may want to consider, like headsets and controllers, that aren’t just about that drip but can seriously elevate your experience with your shiny new Switch.
Update (April 24): We’ve given this post a final update before the console launches on Friday, April 28.
