Xbox’s famed Snap feature that allowed you to pin a program to the side of your screen, like the TA app, doesn’t look like it’ll make a return in the future after Microsoft’s Xbox engineering lead’s recent comment on Twitter.Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie has all but confirmed (thanks, Eurogamer) that the much-loved Snap feature won’t be making a return to our consoles. When replying to a user on Twitter, who asked about Snap making a return, Marie responded by saying: “While we all miss Snap, I don’t think it’s coming back.” Xbox Snap feature was great for the TrueAchievements Xbox One appThe Snap feature that came with the Xbox One was one of the best additions the console’s UI offered users, and to this day, remains something many players fondly remember. It allowed you to pin a number of different Xbox One apps to the side of your screen alongside the game or TV show you were watching, such as YouTube, Twitch, or even our own TrueAchievements app, so you could have walkthroughs available without having to use a secondary device.Unfortunately, the feature was phased out in 2017 after Microsoft began refreshing the console’s UI to a less gesture-controlled style. We’ve seen players calling for it to make a return before, but it really does look like the feature will forever live in the past, where we can remember it fondly. Let’s be honest, do we really want something else to be taking our precious system resources? Probably not. What do you think? Would you like to have the Snap feature added to the latest dashboard?
