Players looking to work through the Pentiment achievements can now enjoy the experience with overkill framerates. A free 120fps Pentiment update on Xbox Series X is now available for all players, although it looks like Xbox Series S is sticking with 60fps. While it’s no longer able to join our list of the best Xbox exclusives, Peniment is a fantastic game, and well worth a playthrough if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.As shared by Obsidian Entertainment on X, Patch 1.3 is rolling out to all Pentiment players now, adding support for 120fps on Xbox Series X and fixing the high contrast accessibility option, which was causing the game to struggle with rendering.Pentiment update adds 120fps support on Xbox Series XPentiment launched on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on February 22, and it wasn’t long before players noticed that the game runs at 120fps on PlayStation 5, while Xbox Series X was locked at 60fps. Does Pentiment really need to run at blazing speeds as a point-and-click adventure game? It’s certainly debatable, as 120fps certainly feels a little overkill for such a relaxed game, but whether it needs it or not matters little, as there shouldn’t be such a performance gap between the two consoles. According to Pentiment game director Josh Sawyer, Xbox’s 120fps mode’s absence was “just a bug,” which now looks to have been squashed.Following the launch of Pentiment on rival consoles, Microsoft has three other exclusives lined up to make the jump in the coming months. Hi-Fi Rush will launch on PS5 later this month, followed by Grounded and Sea of Thieves in April. If you’re a physical collector, Limited Run Games is taking orders for physical copies of Pentiment, but you’ll need to be quick, as they’ll only be available until March 24.
