The past 12 months have been a whirlwind for Team Green, and it looks like things won’t be slowing down for Xbox next year. We’ve dreamed up some Xbox predictions for 2025, which include everything from new games coming to Game Pass to Microsoft ignoring the Xbox achievements system for another year. Xbox 2025 predictions: Everwild, more CoD for Game Pass, and Xbox exclusives for PlayStationUsing the combined knowledge and experience of the TrueAchievements content team, we’ve come up with five predictions that we believe could be on the cards for Microsoft and Xbox in 2025. While some of them are slightly more grounded and based on previous events and our knowledge, others are pure hopes-and-dreams stuff. Here are our Xbox 2025 predictions. Some of Xbox’s top franchises will be announced for PlayStationAt this point, we all know it’s happening. Xbox boss Phil Spencer said it himself: there is nothing stopping any Xbox exclusives from making the jump to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. Halo, Gears of War, Forza, none are off limits. So far, we’ve only seen Microsoft release smaller Xbox IPs on rival consoles where it makes sense: Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded all have good reasons to be on other platforms. The bitter pill to swallow for many Xbox fans will indeed be when Microsoft announces its major exclusive franchises for PlayStation, the franchises that have served as the foundations of Xbox for so long now. I believe we’ll see a small flurry of lesser Xbox exclusives go to PlayStation early on in the year before Microsoft drops a bombshell and announces something big for its rival’s console. Forza Horizon 5 makes sense — Sony doesn’t have anything like Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation unless you count Ubisoft’s mediocre The Crew Motorfest. After that, though, which one out of Halo and Gears will be first to make the jump?Microsoft will ignore Xbox achievements for another yearThere are three things certain in life: death, taxes, and Microsoft ignoring its great Xbox achievements system. I believe that in 2025, Microsoft will not make a single change to Xbox achievements, much as it has done for what feels like an eternity now. Sony continues to make small and interesting innovations to PlayStation trophies every so often, and while they might not be for everyone, hey, at least they’re doing something, unlike Microsoft.Maybe when Microsoft announces the next generation of Xbox consoles, we can start thinking about a possible overhaul of achievements. However, until then, I believe the Achievements Ark has been firmly nailed shut and wheeled away to the back corner of a dusty warehouse. Xbox will have its best year for new releasesWe’ve had a pretty solid year for Xbox games, with heavy hitters like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 stealing the spotlight, and more niche titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Age of Mythology: Retold bolstering the Game Pass library. The 2025 lineup, though… wow, that’s looking sexy. For confirmed games releasing in 2025, we know that Playground Games’ Fable reboot will arrive sometime in the next 12 months, as will Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed — the latter of which releases in February. We’ve also got Compulsion Games’ action-adventure game South of Midnight, which looks gorgeous, and the brutality of Doom: The Dark Ages to look forward to as well. Let’s not forget that another Call of Duty is all but guaranteed to drop towards the end of 2025, while Gears of War: E-Day and State of Decay 3 have also been rumored to launch next year. It could be an awesome year for Xbox fans!Xbox kicks off 2025 with a huge Call of Duty Game Pass dropIn recent weeks, we’ve seen multiple classic Call of Duty games get PC ports alongside new Windows achievement lists. First, we saw PC ports of Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare appear on the Microsoft Store, followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and Modern Warfare 3 (2011) shortly after.Activision games have received PC ports ahead of Xbox Game Pass drops before, but none of the games have joined the service yet. Although unconfirmed, rumors suggest that Microsoft is preparing another Developer Direct for early 2025 — a show we’ve seen the last couple of years that gives us a look at its upcoming line-up of games — so perhaps Xbox is preparing a big Call of Duty Game Pass drop for the occasion. Fingers crossed! Everwild breaks cover once moreHello, it’s me, once again predicting/wishing/wildly hoping that we see something, anything, of Everwild in 2025.It feels almost like a tradition to ask for it at this point since I’ve lost count of the times I’ve had the mysterious Everwild down as one of my predictions, but surely we’ve got to hear something soon?Let’s go through what we know: Everwild was unveiled as Rare’s magical new IP over five years ago, and we’ve since heard… not much. We have had some intriguing trailers. We know that the game itself focuses on themes of nature and magic, and every now and again, the devs proclaim that it’s still in the works, or we see Rare hiring for the game, but that’s it.I am keenly hoping that 2025 is the year for Everwild — a re-announcement, a trailer, a dev blog, even a screenshot (I dare not even think of a release window) — but for now, at least we have a wonderful random Phil Spencer update that he’s been to Rare and that yes, Everwild is still happening. That’s it from us for our Xbox 2025 predictions, but what do you think? Do you agree with our thoughts/hopes/dreams? Let us know down in the comments. For a look at all the Xbox exclusive game drops for 2025, check out our list of upcoming Xbox exclusives for 2025.
