Xbox Game Pass adds two excellent Square Enix RPGs in surprise shadow drop

Microsoft is yet to reveal the new games coming to Game Pass for June, but out of nowhere, we’ve had a surprise shadow drop from Square Enix. Xbox Game Pass added Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2 today — bringing even more RPG goodness to the subscription service. Octopath Traveler (Console, PC, and Cloud)Octopath Traveler returns to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass after leaving the service in February 2023. Playing as eight different characters, you will explore the eight dangerous regions of the fantastical world Orsterra, battling against monsters in turn-based combat to unravel each character’s unique story. If you’re yet to jump into this one, estimates suggest unlocking all Octopath Traveler achievements takes between 100 and 120 hours. To make the journey through Orsterra a little easier, we do have an excellent Octopath Traveler walkthrough. Octopath Traveler 2 (Console, PC, and Cloud)It appears that the rumor was correct! Octopath Traveler 2 is out now on Xbox consoles and playable with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Set in the divided land of Solistia, you will step into the shoes of eight new travelers with their own unique stories once more. While the sequel keeps the same structure as the first game, you can expect new systems such as a day and night cycle, Traveler’s Tales, where two characters can now walk the same path, and new traversal options. For those interested in checking out the sequel, we also now have the Octopath Traveler II achievements.If you missed it, Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Game Pass will lose five games in the first half of June.
