Microsoft has now completed upgrades to its game streaming service Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud). The company confirmed to The Verge that Xbox Cloud Gaming is now fully powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware. In June, Microsoft announced it was upgrading its data centres around the globe with custom Series X hardware, allowing users to stream games at 1080p and up to 60fps with significant improvements to load times. This has now been completed, but as The Verge notes, Microsoft is yet to unlock the hardware’s full potential, which would allow for 4K streaming. At the moment, it’s unclear if this is in Microsoft’s plans for Xbox Cloud Gaming. In recent months, Microsoft has been extremely busy with Xbox Cloud Gaming. The service came to iOS devices alongside PC and is now starting to roll out to Xbox Insiders on consoles. Microsoft is also currently working with TV manufacturers to embed Xbox Cloud Gaming directly into internet-connected TVs, and it’s developing its own standalone streaming devices for TVs and monitors. The company also launched Cloud Gaming in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and Japan last week. Have you been using Xbox Cloud Gaming? How are you finding it? Let us know in the comments below!
