WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers GDC 2025 Preview – Fighting the Inner Demons

Set in the Land of Shu, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers features a world plagued with warring factions and a mysterious illness spawning monstrous creatures. Enter the skilled titular pirate Wuchang, who must contend with the horrific Feathering disease.

Our time in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers had us taking control of this warrior as we explored its truly immersive world. This skilled master of combat has both spells and different attacks at her disposal, channeling the best elements of the Soulslike genre.

As we explored the Shu Sanctum, we put our skills to the test as we dealt with this blight. WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a truly challenging title – there was a lot of death on our end, but a lot of improvement during our time as well.

We were able to work on “getting gud,” as the kids say these days.

Near the end of our time, we ended up reaching the Revenant Temple and contended with a nasty boss. While we admittedly became his sacrifice (he let us know as much), the rhythm of combat was thrilling and kept us on our toes.

We did end up summoning in some help and got close to defeating him, but we’ll settle the score in the full release.

On that note, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers’ presentation is at the top of its class, and it is a truly incredible looking title. A reconstruction of ancient China, there were moments where we just stopped to take in its sheer beauty – just be mindful of one’s surroundings first.

While the cruel and twisted enemies of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers provided a meaty challenge, its sheer immersion and compelling combat make us eager to pay a visit to the late Ming Dynasty.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will come out for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Thank you to PR for arranging this preview opportunity for WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers!
