Just days after we heard that Epic Games is laying off almost 900 employees, reports now suggest that Team17 is facing its own round of layoffs.Team17 has apparently announced a “company restructure” which could result in layoffs. This is according to Eurogamer, which reports (from sources “close to the company”) that around 50 roles will be affected, with much of Team17’s QA team caught up in the layoffs. Eurogamer’s report and that of VG247 suggest that Team17 Digital CEO Michael Pattison was also affected and will be leaving the company. 2023 has already been a tough year for the games industry. Along with the news of the Epic Games layoffs, multiple Xbox Game Studios were hit with layoffs earlier this year after Microsoft announced it would be cutting thousands of jobs. Later, EA announced it would lay off almost 800 employees. Layoffs also hit Private Division and CD Projekt Red.We’ll update here if Team17 makes any official announcement.
