Miami Heat star Tyler Herro has been sidelined for most of the team’s run to the NBA Finals, but will he be back in the lineup against the Nuggets?

Perhaps the most remarkable part of the No. 8 seed Miami Heat making their storybook run to the NBA Finals where they’ll face the Denver Nuggets is the fact that they’ve done the vast majority of it while being short-handed.

Heat guard Tyler Herro was injured with a broken right hand on April 16 in the first round playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks, the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Herro has not played a game since. Of course, Miami has watched guys step up big time in his absence, not the least of whom was Caleb Martin, who was lights out against Boston in the seven-game Eastern Conference Finals victory.

But now the Larry O’Brien Trophy is on the line with Game 1 set for Denver on Thursday night. And Heat fans, though they’ve enjoyed the short-handed run, don’t want to be without Tyler Herro for the entirety of the NBA Finals. So that has fans wondering if Herro will play in the Finals and what the latest injury update on him is.

Will Tyler Herro play in the NBA Finals? Injury update for Heat vs. Nuggets

All signs point to Tyler Herro playing in the NBA Finals for the Miami Heat — we just don’t know exactly when he’ll be able to return.

TNT and Bleacher Report insider Chris Haynes reported on Monday that it looks as if Game 3 is the target date for Herro to return to the lineup.

Meanwhile, South Florida Sun-Sentinel Heat writer Ira Winderman spoke to Herro, who said the plan is to return at some point in the NBA Finals and he’s working hard to make that happen, feeling better with each passing day.

We’ll have to see when Tyler Herro returns to the Heat lineup but things are undeniably trending toward him playing — we’ll just have to wait and see when exactly he’s ready to come back from the injury in the best-of-seven series against Denver.
