Aside from setting you back to your spawn point, dying in Fisch will make you lose some of your money… but who steals your money when you die in Fisch? I’ll go through my top suspects and explain why!
Explore the mysteries of Fisch on Roblox. If you didn’t know, one of the Merchant Brothers is blind! But, Which Merchant Brother Is Blind In Fisch? Make sure to check out our post to see our theories. If you want to find out what other odd things are happening, we have a Fisch Lore Guide.
Who Steals Your Money When You Die In Fisch?
When you die in Fisch, the screen goes black, displaying “Wasted” along with an image of a fish reduced to bones. You will also get a random message at the bottom of your screen. Once you return to the game, some red text pops up saying: “Somebody took [amount] whilst you were unconscious”. The amount they take can be anything up to 2,000C$… but who is it?
As someone who loves Sherlock Holmes, I’ve deduced (ha…) a few options of who this thief may be. Although we don’t know for sure, I like to think I have sufficient evidence! When Fisch released, this would happen when you die. I’m ruling out any NPC introduced in later updates. This leaves me with NPCs found on the following areas: Moosewood, Mushgrove, Snowcap, Roslit, Sunstone, Vertigo, and Terrapin.
??? NPC
My number one suspect is the NPC called ??? who you can find inside of Vertigo. If we think about the facts – the person who steals money most likely isn’t human. They have the ability to teleport anywhere to find and rob you. So, I doubt that it will be a human NPC with a physical body.
That takes me to ???. This is a translucent NPC who is kneeling on the floor with their head lowered. If you watch them, you’ll see them regularly twitch. When speaking to them, they say “Olsw… Tl..”. Many players believe this to translate to them saying “Help…me…”. Perhaps they’re in a ghost limbo trapped in the world of Fisch! It’s clear they aren’t 100% human either.
The Lantern Keeper
My second suspect is the Lantern Keeper NPC found in Moosewood near the lighthouse. He is there during the night, although some players claim they have seen him during the day too.
Although he takes on a more physical embodiment, he can teleport. This is fact! When you load up Fisch, you will see tips. One of them says “The Lantern Keeper is a rare to find vessel that can teleport at will. He is cursed with a constant flow of all possible knowledge at once”. This works well with my theory that whoever steals your cash, has the ability to teleport.
Alongside this, when you speak to this NPC, they have a rather odd speech pattern. They often use exclamation marks, and tHEir woRDs aRe jUmbLEd liKe tHis. It’s clear this NPC isn’t fully human either, and in theory, could easily teleport to you when you die. He also has a “constant flow of all possible knowledge at once”, so he would know when you pass out.
Perido And Leeri
Perido and Leeri are two NPCs located in Vertigo. Like the ??? NPC, they are both translucent and kneel on the ground. Although not high on my suspect list, I thought they were worth a mention, as they both have a ghostly look about them.
Unlike ???, they can speak to you in coherent sentences. They ask you if you can see them, and will even laugh. Both NPCs come across as quite sweet, so I don’t think it’s them… but they are still interesting regardless.
Reference
Now, this area isn’t me putting the blame onto someone. But, if you didn’t know, Fisch takes inspiration from Stardew Valley. You may recognise the fishing mini game from Stardew Valley, as well as the sound when a fish hooks on your rod.
In Stardew Valley, when you pass out, someone will steal your money. The amount is random, but it can go up to 2,500g. Perhaps the person who steals your cash in Fisch is just referencing Stardew Valley. If we ever get a clear answer, or find more clues, I’ll let you know by updating this guide!
