Week 4 in review: Samsung Galaxy S22 series in the spotlight

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series was the hottest topic this past week. The three phones are officially coming on February 9 alongside the Galaxy Tab S8.

We saw high-res renders of all models in all colors, got detailed specs and even prices. To recap the Galaxy S22 will have a 6.1-inch 1080p AMOLED of up to 120Hz variable refresh rate. On the back we’ll see 50MP main camera alongside 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP 3x telephoto units. The battery capacity is going to be 3,700mAh. The Galaxy S22+ adds a bigger 6.6-inch display and 4,500mAh battery.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a 6.8-inch display with a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz, a 5,000mAh battery, a 108MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, 10MP 10x periscope zoom, and 10MP 3x zoom snappers.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at €1,249 for the base 8/128GB, the S22+ will cost €1,049 for 8/128GB, and the S22 will be €849 for 8/128GB.

The global Redmi Note 11 went official this week. The Redmi Note 11 and 11S have 6.43-inch 90Hz AMOLED displays and 5,000mAh batteries. The 11 has a 50MP camera and Qualcomm SD680 chipset, while the 11S has a 108MP camera and a MediaTek Helio G96 chip. The Redmi Note 11 will start at $180 for the 4/64 GB model and will go up to $230 for the top 6/128 GB model. The Redmi Note 11S will start at $250 (6/64 GB) and go up to $300 (8/128 GB).

The Redmi Note 11 Pro and Note 11 Pro 5G have 120Hz 6.67-inch Super AMOLED displays, 108MP main cameras, and 5,000mAh batteries, but differ in the choice of chipsets – SD695 for the Pro 5G and Helio G96 for the Pro. The Pro model will start at $300 for the 6/64 GB model and go up to $350 for the 8/128GB option. The Pro 5G phone starts at $330 (6/64GB) and goes up to $380 ($8/128GB).

February 9 can’t come fast enough, but at least we have all the details now.
