Former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was the guest picker on College GameDay and gave a huge compliment to Nittany Lions fans.
Saquon Barkley appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay and did exactly what he was supposed to do. He made his picks and he endeared himself to the Nittany Lions faithful by picking Penn State to beat Auburn.
His reason for the pick will have him even more beloved in Happy Valley.
Saquon Barkley loves the Penn State White Out
“I would never pick Auburn for one reason: We have the greatest fans in the country,” Barkley said sweeping his arm back to indicate the mass of fans on hand for College GameDay.
Barkley was an absolute stud for the Nittany Lions from 2015 to 2017. He rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons and tallied 53 total touchdowns.
As a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Barkley helped lead Penn State to a Big Ten title in 2016. In his first season, the Nittany Lions won seven games. In his final two, they won 11 each.
As much as Barkley loves Penn State fans, they love him just as much.
The New York Giants went on to pick Barkley No. 2 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He hasn’t had a lot to celebrate this season in the pros. His team is 0-2 to start the season. He’ll have to rely on Penn State to give him something to cheer for this weekend.
The annual White Out game should be a rocking atmosphere and Barkley helped set the stage with his appearance on GameDay.
