Simone Biles just won Olympic bronze and suddenly it means so much more.
Simone Biles proved over and over again how tough she is both on and off the gymnastic mats. And now, just days after withdrawing from the Olympics due to mental health concerns, she’s earned bronze and endeared herself to us all … again.
Biles re-entered the competition on Tuesday when she competed on the women’s balance beam finals.

Biles didn’t win gold, but the real victory here is the fact that she competed at all. This is Biles’ seventh Olympic medal, which is kind of amazing. With this medal she ties for the most Olympic medals in gymnastics won by a Team USA athlete.
“Once I came out here [to compete], I was like, ‘No, mental is not there, so I just need to let the girls do it and focus on myself,’” Biles said of her withdrawal last week.
We’re glad to see her back, for that, you get our gold.
