Watch Dogs may not be Ubisoft’s biggest focus in today’s market, but it was at one point one of its biggest franchises. So it’s no surprise that Ubisoft is working on a movie based on the series, which has a setting that lends itself perfectly to being adapted into film. What is a surprise is that Ubisoft started working on a movie with New Regency 11 years ago, and are only now just getting things moving. Earlier this year it was confirmed that Sophie Wilde will star in the coming film adaptation. On Wednesday, a report from Deadline confirmed that Wilde has a co-star in Tom Blyth, who most notably starred in the Hunger Games prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. There’s no word yet at to how this adaptation will approach the Watch Dogs franchise, if it’ll be a retelling of the game’s events, an entirely new story separate from the game, or a continuation of the story developed in the games. Now that its co-stars are selected, hopefully the rest of the cast will begin to fill out, and we can soon get a better idea as to how this film will tackle the franchise.Source – [Deadline]
