Warriors fans are awaiting the return of Klay Thompson but they should be excited by what he’s doing while rehabbing with G-League Santa Cruz.
While the Golden State Warriors are looking like one of the NBA’s elite once again after some pedestrian years by their measure, the franchise also has an ace in the hole: Klay Thompson.
Steph Curry has been playing at an MVP level this season and all of the complimentary pieces have fallen into place beautifully. But Thompson, who has missed the last two years due to injuries, is inching closer to his return, which would obviously reunite the Splash Brothers at long last on the court.
The latest step towards Thompson’s return was assigning him to the team’s G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, for a rehab stint. And the dynamic guard has been practicing with said team.
And if you’re wondering how that’s going, he seems to be falling right back into form, sinking a game-winner in the team’s scrimmage on Tuesday.
Klay Thompson hits game-winner in Santa Cruz Warriors scrimmage
If we’re being honest, it’s just a made shot in a G-League practice when you get down to it.
Having said that, it’s also a legitimate reason for Warriors fans to get excited about the impending return of Klay Thompson to Golden State’s lineup.
The big question about Thompson’s return is just how effective he’ll be upon getting back to the NBA level. And while a made basket in a Santa Cruz scrimmage ensures absolutely nothing, it’s at least a positive sign that he’s somewhere close to good form.
Not that fans needed any more reason to get excited about Klay Thompson coming back, but this video from the G-League affiliate’s practice should be enough to raise the level of enthusiasm even more.
