The United States and Mexico will lock horns on Sunday night when Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas plays host to the Gold Cup final.

Contested since 1991, the tournament, which will crown the region’s top team, is played every two years. Mexico has won the Gold Cup a record eight times. They are the defending champions.

The United States has captured the Gold Cup six times and last won it all back in 2017.

The USMNT, which has fielded a largely B team for this competition, reached the final after defeating Qatar, a team invited to play at the tournament as a guest nation, 1-0 Thursday in the semifinals. Mexico, meanwhile, edged Canada 2-1 to punch their ticket to the championship game.

The U.S. have a 25-6-3 record in 33 games under manager Gregg Berhalter. He reached 25 wins faster than any head coach in USMNT history.

The sides met in the last Gold Cup final contested two years ago, a game El Tri won 1-0.
