Of course, USC football kicker Parker Lewis would get ejected for targeting on the opening kickoff.

On today’s episode of why USC football will never be good under Clay Helton, Trojans kicker Parker Lewis was ejected from the game for targeting on the opening kickoff vs. Stanford.

Yes, you read that correctly and we can’t believe it either. Then again, this is USC where you can be homeless and pretend to be a member of the football team before anybody even pretends to care. We simply cannot wait to hear what former Trojans running back Petros Papadakis says about the latest example of USC nonsense come Monday on AM 570 in Los Angeles. This is USC football…

Top-14 teams in the country do not get their kicker ejected for targeting on the opening kickoff.

Now that Lewis is watching the rest of the game from the sidelines, his replacement in Alex Stadthaus has five career tackles. Then again, Helton may just rather let Stanford take it 90-plus yards to pay dirt than to experience even more embarrassment. Oregon may be elite in the Pac-12 North, but let’s hope this is not the best the Pac-12 South could ever hope to offer this season.

When it comes to the Helton era of USC football, expect the unexpected when you least expect it.
