UFC Vegas 33: Uriah Hall vs. Sean Strickland fight card, start time, channel guide.
UFC Vegas 33 goes down on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. The fight card will feature a variety of intriguing matchups including, surging heavyweights looking to put the division on notice in the co-main event, Ronnie Lawrence looking to build momentum against the always dangerous Trevin Jones, and ranked middleweights going to war in the main event.
Sean Strickland joined the UFC in 2014 with a record of 14-0. After winning five of his first six UFC fights, MMA fans knew Strickland was here to stay. Strickland then went on to lose two of his next four, losing to current champion Kamaru Usman. Holding a UFC record of 7-3, Strickland was continuing to evolve into an elite welterweight. Unfortunately, the journey to becoming a UFC champion will always be filled with adversity.
Strickland had to put his MMA career on hold after being hit by a car while on his motorcycle. He was knocked unconscious and ended up with a handful of injuries. The accident sidelined Strickland for nearly two years before returning in December 2020. Since returning, Strickland looks better than ever, winning all three of his fights in his new weight class of middleweight. Strickland now looks to continue his journey to the top by getting his fifth straight win in the UFC Vegas 33 main event.
Uriah Hall made a name for himself in 2012 on The Ultimate Fighter Season 17. After winning four straight fights, Hall ended up losing in the finals to Kelvin Gastelum by split decision. Despite coming up short, the UFC signed Hall with the hopes of him evolving into a superstar. Unfortunately, Hall has failed to live up to his massive expectations, holding a UFC record of 10-7. With that being said, Hall has won four straight fights and maintains the dream of becoming UFC champion.
At the age of 36 years old, this may be the last chance for Hall to go on a run for the title. Since returning from the pandemic, Hall has wins over Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva. Hall is currently ranked in the top ten of UFC middleweights and does not plan to stop there. With a win in the UFC Vegas 33 main event, Hall will be one step closer to being a UFC champion.
In the co-main event, ranked heavyweights Chris Daukaus and Shamil Abdurakhimov will go to battle. Daukaus has been a beast since making his UFC debut, winning all three fights by first-round KO. On the contrary, Abdurakhimov has tons of UFC experience that will benefit him in this fight. Both fighters are willing to do whatever it takes to win, but only one can come out victorious. All things considered, UFC Vegas 33 has the potential to steal the show from Bellator 263.
