This week’s Xbox sale is themed around DLC and the countless additional hours we get to spend in some of our favourite games. In keeping with that, we’ve brought you five of our favourite content packs from the available selection. Our esteemed leader Luke isn’t featured this week because he has been battling his way through the underworld and grinding like a maniac, and we’re still waiting for him to re-emerge, but he’d probably have picked the Yakuza: Like a Dragon Karaoke Set. Luckily, Heidi couldn’t decide which horse to back, and boldly offered to take two for the team. Let’s dive in and see what we consider some of the best deals in the Ultimate Game Add-on Sale…Heidi — Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Season PassThe Assassin’s Creed Season Pass is the item I’m most interested in for myself — I don’t have any of the Valhalla DLC yet, and 35% off for the Season Pass seems a pretty good bargain, especially since it’s currently at its lowest price yet, and that’s with The Siege of Paris DLC having only launched just this week. The Season Pass gives you access to the bonus Legend of Beowulf quest, the Wrath of the Druids expansion, and the Siege of Paris DLC. I have to admit, it’s the Siege of Paris DLC I’m most looking forward to. Heading to Ireland in the Wrath of the Druids will be great, but travelling to Francia to infiltrate Paris sounds even better, especially since we’ll take part in “the most ambitious battle in Viking history.”Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla Season PassGet access to new content, explore new lands, and discover new gear with the Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla Season Pass.Includes two epic expansions! The Witcher 3 is my favourite game, and Blood and Wine might be my favourite part of it. The Witcher 3 was already ridiculously good, and then Blood and Wine came along and pushed it even higher. Blood and Wine, in my eyes, set a new standard for what an expansion could achieve. The entirety of Toussaint tied together that strange Witcher contrast between a beautiful (and in this case, almost fairytale-like) world and the darker, more ominous undertones of the story — and that story is excellent, introducing wonderful new characters, and another level of immersion to an already irresistible game. In other words, the Blood and Wine expansion would be worth it at any price, but at 70% off, it’s a real bargain.The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and WineWelcome to the land of knights, noble ladies and magnificent wineries. If you own the Season Pass, you should not purchase the Blood and Wine Expansion, as you already are entitled to it.”Kes — The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Season PassIf one of the team didn’t pick this, someone would have slapped us in the comments, no doubt. To take the sting out of said perpetrator’s mean backhand swipe — what moisturiser do you use? So soft. I’m going to concentrate on Hearts of Stone. I’m fairly certain that we all know what’s up with Blood and Wine. It’s fab and Heidi above clearly knows it, too. It is also distinctly an epilogue to The Witcher 3 that feels unique from the main quests of the game. Hearts of Stone, meanwhile, never gets the love it deserves for being this perfect and engaging side adventure that fits perfectly with the main game. You end up in some twisted questline vying with Gaunter O’Dimm, a naughty little trickster that breaks you out of a slave boat that the Ofieri bodyguards put you on after trying to save a froggy prince in a sewer. Wild things happen afterwards that I don’t want to spoil, but the mission variety is a class above. The runtime sits at about ten hours (plus however long you play Gwent for), so this is a meaty package for 70% off. The characters and environments sing, as does the dialogue and chemistry between literally everyone. Olgierd von Everec is maybe one of my favourite villains in the Witcher franchise, Gaunter O’Dimm is a ploughin’ son of a gnome, and doctor and row-boat accomplice Shani reminds me a little bit too much of my girlfriend, making me question how I’m subconsciously forming my real-life relationships. It truly feels like Geralt is off on a side-quest entirely by accident, something games often tell you is happening but rarely make you feel. This happens to Geralt a few times in Sapowski’s books and is a huge part of what makes his adventures feel unique. It’s like a messed-up holiday, really. When you return to the main quests of Wild Hunt, you feel refreshed and ready for more. With additional horse races and Gwent cards to collect, this is just an all-round must-play part of the game. Be careful with the Wild Rose Dethorned achievement, though. It can glitch, so just keep a save point before you attack that brand of enemy camp. I feel like I’ve given enough praise to the expansion: now, can you put your well-kept hand down? Unfortunately for me, and luckily for you, you won’t have to read my words on why you should buy the most premium, finest DLC add-on ever released (I’m ashamed to admit that I did actually buy this for however many Microsoft Points it cost at the time) as it’s not actually on sale. Instead, you should pick up the two other Oblivion DLC expansions that have been reduced this week: Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. Now, I understand that Oblivion is a pretty old game at this point, and plenty of you will have already played it and probably the expansions too, but if by the Nine Divines you haven’t, then you should definitely purchase them now. Both are on sale for about the price of a sweetroll and add hours of content to the game. Shivering Isles is the bigger of the two and adds a huge new realm, filled with bizarre creatures and even weirder inhabitants for you to explore — it also adds another ten achievements. Knights of the Nine doesn’t add any new achievements, but it’s a fairly long and interesting quest that should keep you busy for quite a while, plus you’ll get some sweet gear for your efforts.However, if you really want to impress the denizens of the Shivering Isles and the Knights of the Nine, you’re really going to need to purchase that Horse Armor Pack. You won’t regret it like I did, promise!Shivering IslesPlay the official expansion for Oblivion – the 2006 RPG and Game of the Year. Shivering Isles features more than 30 hours of new gameplay as you are sent to explore the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. Shivering Isles adds to the existing world of Oblivion, so you can continue playing with your existing save game/character, or create an all-new character just to explore the new content in Shivering Isles. New quests, creatures, weapons, armor, ingredients, and more await in …Knights of the NineA fallen King has been unchained from the darkness of Oblivion to seek vengeance upon the Gods who banished him. Why? Because this edition gets you every paid expansion as well as the Blackwood expansion, which was only released last month! The Elder Scrolls Online has a ridiculous amount of life left in it, with support for the game still regularly being pushed out. If you’ve picked up and played a little bit on Xbox Game Pass and want even more out of the world, this deal is undoubtedly for you. The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Blackwood comes packed with each of the game’s major expansions and offers storylines for places such as Western Skyrim, Summerset, and of course Blackwood. It’s a massive amount of content and the achievement list isn’t for anyone but the most committed Elder Scrolls Online players, but as I said, this is for those that have already experienced the game and want to dive into everything Tamriel has to offer… well, up until now, at least.
