Ubisoft Wants To Increase The Number Of Developers Working On Assassin’s Creed Projects “By 40% Over The Coming Years”

Assassin’s Creed has been arguably the biggest franchise for Ubisoft since the series first sequel launched, and the publisher has never seemingly looked back.To the point where now Ubisoft is planning a massive expansion of the whole Assassin’s Creed world and how new Assassin’s Creed games are delivered, with multiple projects for the franchise currently in the works.In accordance with that, Ubisoft is looking to bolster the size of the teams working on the franchise, “by 40%,” according to chief executive officer Yves Guillemot in thecompany’s full fiscal year report for 2022-2023.“FY2022-23 was in line with our revised financial targets. While this past year was challenging for the industry and for Ubisoft, it was pivotal for the company as we reinforced our strategic focus on our biggest opportunities, initiated a meaningful cost reduction plan and provided additional development time for our strong pipeline of content.As part of our progression reallocation of resources, we notably plan to increase the number of talents working on the Assassin’s Creed brand by 40% over the coming years.Our teams are making headway across the board as we look to bring exciting gaming experiences, both premium and free-to-play, to players on all platforms in FY2023-24 and beyond.”It was only days ago that Ubisoft laid off approximately 60 people, and now it is talking about gradually adding another 8000 employees to its current number of employees which sits “below 20,000,” according to chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet, in the same FY2022-23 report.Source – [Ubisoft Press Release]
