Twitch hacked with source code and creator payouts leaked — report [updated]

Update: Twitch has now put out a brief statement via Twitter, confirming that it has suffered a breach.Original Story: Twitch, one of the world’s biggest game streaming platforms, has reportedly been hacked, with an anonymous hacker claiming to have leaked its source code in full as well as user payout information. As reported by VGC, a 125GB torrent has been posted by the hacker on 4chan, who claims the leak is to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space.” We haven’t been able to verify what the leak includes, but VGC reports that the files are publically available to download and that a source from Twitch says that the company is aware of the leak. The leak reportedly includes:Twitch’s full source code and the source code for mobile, desktop, and console Twitch clientsThree years worth of creator payout reportsProprietary SDKs and internal AWS services used by TwitchData on other Twitch-owned properties, including IGDB and CurseForgeAn unreleased Steam competitor from Amazon Game StudiosTwitch internal security tools The hacker is supposedly planning on revealing more information in future leaks, so there could be more to come. According to one Twitter user who has started combing their way through the vast amounts of information, the leak includes encrypted passwords, so if you are a Twitch user, it’s probably a good idea to change your password and enable two-factor authentication, just to be on the safe side.
