Cam Smith will get his Masters warm-up done in Miami after LIV Golf’s schedule for 2025 includes an event at Donald Trump’s Blue Monster at Doral the week before the year’s first major at Augusta.Amid ongoing talks about the future of the Saudi-backed tour after Australian great Greg Norman was moved on as chief executive, LIV will again be a 14-event season, with a tournament in Mexico added to the list. And in a bold move, LIV has scheduled its final three events in Chicago, Indianapolis and then the season-ending Michigan event on the same dates as the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs. While that decision could cloud ongoing talks between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, which backs LIV Golf, it’s been reported it was more to finish the LIV season before the start of the football season in the US.Norman’s ambition to make the game of golf more global will play out through LIV, with events in nine countries in 2025, including a February stop in Adelaide.Smith’s Ripper GC outfit will also defend the $20m team title they won in 2024 at a new location, with the season-ending event shifted to the The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort in Michigan. The LIV season will be done by the end of August, a seven-month span of events that pales in comparison to the US PGA Tour’s 11-month extravaganza that began last week in Hawaii.“Our global calendar continues to expand with a focus on playing the very best golf courses and delivering a unique and memorable experience for fans,” LIV Golf executive vice-president and head of events Ross Hallett said.“The 2025 slate features courses that have hosted multiple Presidents Cups, the Ryder Cup, and the Solheim Cup, where team golf has shined. The schedule proudly features LIV Golf Adelaide, voted the World’s Best Golf Event, and LIV Golf Singapore at Sentosa Golf Club, named World’s Best Golf Course.LIV Golf star Cameron Smith is hoping to defend the team title. Smith and Ripper GC won last year’s event in South Australia in LIV’s first team playoff.
