After delivering hits like Teeny Tiny Town, Teeny Tiny Trains, Luminosus and Tiny Connections, Short Circuit Studios has launched a different game this time. It’s TownsFolk, a roguelike strategy city-builder.

Explore, Build and Survive in TownsFolk

You lead a group of settlers into the wilderness, trying to build a thriving colony. You also have to make sure the Crown doesn’t get angry at you for missing tribute. TownsFolk basically tests both your leadership skills and your ability to roll with the punches.

You play as the boss of a bunch of settlers tasked with creating a new colony in uncharted territory. You have to juggle resources like food, gold, faith and production to keep things running smoothly.

There are wild animals, disasters and moral dilemmas to mess with your plans. Hence, you have to be careful with your strategy. And the Crown isn’t too patient about those tributes. So, if you mess that up, you might find your whole settlement paying the price.

On that note, catch a glimpse of the game below.

It’s Minimal but Fun!

TownsFolk tries to keep each playthrough fresh. The roguelike campaign means you’re constantly thrown into new challenges. And then there are different modes in the game.

The Skirmish Mode lets you take a quick strategic hit without committing to a full run. It also offers some clever puzzle challenges that lets you customise your gameplay and test your strategies in a variety of settings.

Then there’s the Campaign Mode which is more of a thrilling journey with dynamic missions and challenges. TownsFolk nails the minimalist strategy without sacrificing depth.

And as you saw in the trailer, its retro-style pixelated visuals are charming! We already know that Short Circuit Studios always performs in that area. If you like this colony-building strategy game, check it out on the Google Play Store.
