If you’re looking to upgrade your storage for the latest games without paying hundreds of dollars for the privilege, then this 1TB Samsung 990 Evo offer might just interest you. With a whopping $50 off, this gaming SSD deal offers you a huge discount on the usual retail price.

The Samsung 990 Evo has a top sequential read speed of 5,000MB/s and a top write speed of 4,200MB/s, which is fine for most people’s needs, even if it doesn’t outpace the best gaming SSD models on our shortlist. What’s more, there’s no heatsink required, it’s a pretty durable drive, and it’s cheap to boot, costing just $69.99 right now.

That’s a truly great price for a 1TB SSD, but it’s worth a word of caution, as the Samsung 990 Evo release led to some criticism about Samsung’s marketing. Samsung tells us that this is a PCIe 5.0 SSD, and while that’s true in the general sense, this SSD only uses two PCIe 5.0 lanes, rather than four, meaning that it has the same-speed interface as a standard 4x PCIe 4.0 SSD. If you can put the marketing to one side, though, this is still a pretty quick SSD for gamers, with more than enough space for modern games, and at a cent under $70, it’s a heck of a bargain to boot.

Durability is on Samsung’s side here too. This NVMe SSD has a 600TBW (terabytes written) write endurance rating meaning that, on average, you can write over the entire drive 600 times without it failing. If you opt for the more expensive 2TB model, then that doubles to 1,200TBW.

You need to move quickly, though. This 1TB Samsung 990 Evo drive is on sale right now at Newegg for $69.99 in a pre-Black Friday deal, down from $124.99, but the sale ends tomorrow – you can check it out by clicking this link, or grab it via Amazon for the same price here. If you want the 2TB version, that will set you back $129.99, down from $209.99 in another huge discount. You can pick up the 2TB Samsung SSD from Newegg via this link or from Amazon using this link instead.
