A crossroads fight takes shape in the main event of UFC Vegas 38.
Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker meet in a pivotal fight at light heavyweight on Saturday night. from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. The bout serves as the headliner for UFC Vegas 38, as the promotion is in the midst of a 10-week stretch with consecutive events each weekend. Santos is a former title challenger who has a 21-9 record to his name. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, however, Santos is on a three-fight losing skid, including a loss to former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, in July 2019.
Santos’ last win came against current champion, Jan Blachowicz, as he finished the fight by TKO. The win was what earned Santos a title shot later that year, which is where a four-fight winning streak would come to a halt.
As for Walker, he is coming off of a Sept. 2020 TKO win against Ryan Spann, which snapped a two-fight losing skid of his own. He has found success in the promotion thus far, going 4-2 after earning a contract via the Brazil edition of Dana White’s Contender Series in Aug. 2018.
Something has to give, as the winner will move one step closer to a shot at UFC gold.
