They’re Coming Review – You Should Shoot Them

There are loads of zombie games available on mobile. Like, so many you can’t even count them. Well, you probably could, but what would be the point, when you can just say there are loads and be right. So when a new one comes out, we tend not to get that excited.

Which has made They’re Coming a pretty pleasant surprise. It’s an action packed, wave-based shooter that offers up a massive chunk of challenge, some neat graphics and a whole heap of sloppy, pixelated gore.

You’re a lone survivor, armed with some guns, a melee weapon and a few other pieces of equipment. Zombies want to kill you. Try and stop them. It’s a simple and far from innovative set-up, but it does the job. You’re walking along a straight road, waiting for the undead to appear and try to bite your face off.

The fact of the matter is that you’re horrendously underpowered here. You can deal with a couple of zombies just fine, but they start coming faster and thicker and things start to get desperate in the best possible way.

You’re building defences, throwing grenades and kicking out to keep the horde at bay. At the end of every day you can spend your cash on new items – from strength power-ups to cloning machines that add more humans to your one-man army.

The zombies get tougher and grosser too. Some of them sprint into the action, others vomit out gouts of acidic bile. There are zombies in helmets too, which makes them much tougher to kill. You’ve always got to be on your toes, and death is lying in wait around almost every corner. Y’know, if the game had corners.

They’re Coming is a challenging, well put together shooter, peppered with ideas from other genres to keep things fresh. Yes, it’s another zombie game, but it’s a pretty darn good zombie game and we reckon you should check it out.
