A huge host of Netflix’s The Witcher universe projects have been announced, alongside a new trailer for The Witcher Season 2 — which drops on December 17th. If you are anything like us and are totally obsessed with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it’d be nice to have a nice compiled list of what is going on in the world of the TV show! The Witcher Universe AnnouncementsNetflix confirmed three things. First, the return of the mainline series for a third season; something that Netflix rarely does after the second. Secondly, the streaming service has made clear more anime Witcher goodness is coming with the announcement of a second film after the success of The Nightmare of the Wolf, which focused on Geralt of Riva’s Witcher mentor Vesemir. The final reveal was a project tapered towards a younger audience, which is the last thing we would have guessed. Road to Season 2The first of the new trailers, Road to Season 2 basically covers A-Z of the first season while dropping in story beats of the second. It looks like it will be predominantly set in Kaer Morhen as Ciri is training, which we are all familiar with thanks to The Witcher 3. Ciri First LookThis and the first bit of wholesale footage from the Second Season. It apparently focuses on Ciri, but let’s be honest, there is more Geralt in here. Ciri just kind of runs to the horse. If you know the books, though, you know that this story has been changed around slightly. Nivellen First LookA cheeky little look at Nivellen, a beasty who throws magic knives. He has a lot going on, let me tell you, but that enters spoiler territory. We are really looking forward to seeing this on the small, medium, and big screens! The Witcher Blood Origin Set TourBlood Origin takes place before the Conjunction of the Spheres, the moment that united the world of men and monsters. This trailer doesn’t tell us a lot, but let me tell you, I was quite charmed seeing Declan de Barra joke around. Also: Iceland. That’s all that was announced and shown. Sorry, there is no CD Projekt news, but we figured The Witcher is cool enough to talk about without the attached video game! Are you looking forward to the new season on December 17th? Let us know in the comments!
