CD Projekt RED currently has a slew of projects on the go, some being handled internally by its various teams, and others being done in collaboration with other teams. In the case of The Witcher Remake, a full remake of the game that kicked off the franchise, it’s being handled by Fool’s Theory, a team comprised mainly of veteran CDPR developers who worked on previous Witcher titles.Remake’s are never meant to be exactly one-to-one with their original inspiration, so that means things are going to change. In the case of remaking an older title like the first Witcher game, there’s potential for a lot of change.Speaking to Edge magazine (via GamesRadar) about the remake, chief executive officer at Fool’s Theory Jakub Rokosz talked about how the team began looking at the project, and evaluating what should stay, and what should go.“First and foremost, we need an honest down-to-earth analysis of which parts are simply bad, outdated, and need to be remade.”At this point The Witcher is such an old game that there’s arguably going to be a boatload of things that fall into this category. Not that being an old game makes it bad, just that modern quality of life standards can go a long way to making it palatable for modern players. With this remake being made entirely in Unreal Engine 5, it’ll be quite interesting to see how the final product turns out.Still, that wait will be a long while yet, since we already know this remake isn’t planning on releasing until after The Witcher 4 makes its debut.Source – [Edge via GamesRadar]
