The Witcher 3 has surpassed a huge milestone that has pushed the epic open world action-RPG into the top ten best-selling video games of all time, according to CD Projekt.In CD Projekt’s Q12 2023 earnings results, the company revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had sold over 50 million copies and that The Witcher franchise as a whole had sold over 75 million copies. The Witcher 3 sells 50 million copiesAccording to CD Projekt Group chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz, The Witcher 3 selling over 50 million copies has pushed it into the top ten best-selling video games of all time. In a Q1 performance update, Nielubowicz said, “As regards The Witcher franchise, I would like to make an announcement which fills us with pride. The Witcher 3 has now been purchased by over 50 million gamers. Based on publicly available data, The Witcher 3 now ranks among the top ten best-selling video games in history.”The Witcher 3 is now the ninth best-selling video game of all time, sitting behind Red Dead Redemption 2 (53 million copies sold) and ahead of Pokémon Red / Green / Blue / Yellow (47.5 million copies sold). Top of the table sits Minecraft with 238 million copies sold. CD Projekt also noted in its financial results that more of its developers had been moved off Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, and are now working on the next mainline Witcher game, codenamed Polaris.
