In August, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that Square Enix wants to bring more games to Xbox. Now, we’ve heard an interesting rumor about Xbox getting the “whole slate” of Final Fantasy games, including Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 16, and the Pixel Remasters. Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 16, and Pixel Remasters rumored for XboxSpeaking on the Xbox Two podcast, Windows Central’s Jez Corden said he’d heard more about what Final Fantasy games are “on the docket” for Xbox, though he’s unsure of release timings.”I’ve heard that the whole slate’s on the docket, including Final Fantasy 7, 16, and Pixel Remasters,” Corden said. “A lot of people were wondering if Sony had locked down Final Fantasy 7 forever. I’ve heard that is not the case and that Final Fantasy 7 will eventually come to Xbox. I don’t know when it will, and I don’t know if it’ll be in the first wave. You’ll probably be able to expect Pixel Remasters and maybe Final Fantasy 16 initially.”However, VG247’s Alex Donaldson has weighed in on the Final Fantasy 7 part of the rumor, saying that he’s not heard anything about Rebirth or Remake being in “active development” for Xbox, which suggests that Corden’s theory about Final Fantasy 16 and the Pixel Remasters coming to Xbox first is possible. “I’ll go ahead and just outright say that to my knowledge, there is presently no active development on an Xbox version of Remake or Rebirth,” Donaldson said on ResetEra. “They will obviously eventually do it. But as far as being in active port development now, to my understanding, which I am quite confident in, they are not.”[Final Fantasy] 16, I think, is more obvious and clear-cut. You only need to look at Yoshida’s comments over the last six or so months. It’s clear that will happen sooner rather than later.”It’s possible we could hear more about Final Fantasy games coming to Xbox during Tokyo Game Show 2024, where Xbox is hosting a special broadcast. According to Microsoft, the showcase will feature an”exciting lineup of games from third-party partners primarily based in Japan and across Asia.”
