Developer Nightdive Studios has heavily suggested that it will announce a remaster of classic PS2 title The Thing on Friday, following news that it’s also working on Killing Time: Resurrected. The studio took to X to tease an image of its next remaster project, which all but confirms that The Thing is set to receive the remastering treatment (it clearly depicts artwork based on the 2002 shooter).Developed by Computer Artworks and published by Black Label Games and Konami, The Thing was released in 2002 for PC, PS2, and Xbox and is a full sequel to John Carpenter’s seminal 1982 horror classic of the same name. The Thing follows United States Army Special Forces member Captain Blake, who is dispatched to the Antarctic outpost seen in the movie to discover the fate of the research team, only to come up against the titular shape-shifting alien. The Thing was endorsed by Carpenter and takes the form of a third-person shooter, with Blake able to wield an array of weapons to use against the game’s three main enemy types — Scuttlers, Walkers, and Bosses. NPCs also follow a Fear/Trust system, which determines whether the AI will follow your orders and assist him in combat, or outright attack you if they are convinced you’re a threat. Nightdive hasn’t officially announced The Thing yet but we won’t have long to wait and see what it has in store next.[Source – Nightdive Studios on X]
