The sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s award-winning first-person sci-fi RPG, The Outer Worlds 2 got its first gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2024.
The Outer Worlds 2 prides itself on a new solar system and a new crew, all while packing the same Outer Worlds (hence the title).

The Outer Worlds 2: First Gameplay Trailer
Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart said the following regarding The Outer Worlds 2’s development (via IconEra)
“We had difficulties in the studio during Covid. We tried to move forward with all these projects. There were conversations about dropping The Outer Worlds II [and Grounded] and just throwing the whole team into Avowed.
I thank Microsoft and all the teams, we sat down together and said: no. We’ll get there. We’ll get there. Not on the original schedule, but we’ll get there. And I think that has now been proven.
Grounded looks amazing. Pentiment was incredible. Avowed is going to be great. The Outer Worlds II is looking incredible.”
The Outer Worlds 2 will come out in 2025 for both Xbox Series X|S and PC, and on Day One to Xbox Game Pass.
