The Great Sneeze is a new game on Android by Studio Monstrum. It takes the usual point-and-click formula and adds a storyline full of chaos in an art gallery caused by of all things, an incredibly powerful sneeze.
Really? The Great Sneeze Causes Chaos?
A sneeze might not sound like a big deal, but in The Great Sneeze, it’s enough to turn an entire art exhibition upside down. Set just before the grand opening of a Caspar David Friedrich exhibition, the game follows three friends Kaspar, David and Friederike.
They are in charge of fixing an absolute mess. One moment, they’re helping out Mr. Dietzke, the curator, with final preparations. The next moment, a sneeze sets everything spiralling. Paintings shift and the carefully arranged exhibition falls apart.
Worst of all, Friedrich’s famous Wanderer above the Sea of Fog takes an unexpected journey through the rest of the artist’s works. So, the trio has to chase down the wandering figure, solve a bunch of clever puzzles and restore the exhibition before the doors officially open.
It’s a funny, absurd and charming point-and-click puzzler. Take a look at it below.
The Visuals Are Amazing!
Since the whole game is built around Friedrich’s work, it serves as an easy introduction to his paintings. The visuals do a great job of capturing the feel of a real art museum while still keeping things playful.
The Great Sneeze has simple, lighthearted puzzles which are engaging. It’s mostly about paying attention to the details in Friedrich’s paintings and enjoying the humorous interactions between the three main characters.
The game has been developed by Studio Monstrum with support from major German museums. The devs had data sourced from institutions like the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
