The Chiefs extends Optus partnership

Australian payment processor SQID Technologies Limited has announced that its subsidiary, The Chiefs Esports Club, has extended its partnership with telecommunications company Optus.

The partnership will see the two brands continue to collaborate on creating gaming-related content in Australia for the next 12 months.

According to the press release, the partnership aims to ‘understand the demands of gamers and create services tailored to their needs’.

Mel Hopkins, Head of Marketing at Optus, spoke on the announcement: “We’re proud to be continuing our partnership with The Chiefs and supporting this growing community.

“Optus provides a variety of gaming-specific products so working with the Chiefs helps us connect with the gaming community in an authentic way.”

As part of the renewed partnership deal, Optus will be featured across The Chiefs brand, including its League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege and VALORANT teams.

Additionally, The Chiefs also became a partner of Optus’s Streaming Booth in Queen Street, Brisbane. To support its development, the booth will be reportedly used by its new resident streamer, Ryan ‘Panda’ Dingle for regular broadcasts to his community.

The partnership between The Chiefs and Optus was initially signed in July 2020. The organisation also recently announced a two-year strategic partnership with Jesse Lingard-owned esports organisation JLINGZ Esports.

Nick Bobir, Chief Executive Officer of The Chiefs, added: “Optus has been an integral partner for not only The Chiefs as a brand but also our players and content creators over the past 12 months. 

“We are excited to continue building on the momentum and delivering further value to the gaming market here in Australia.”

Esports Insider says: The initial partnership between The Chiefs and Optus has proven to be beneficial to both parties, eventually leading the organisation to extend the deal further.
