We’ve got about two weeks until the VCT Americas Kickoff begins. Here’s everything you need to know about the kickoff for VCT Americas 2024.

VCT 2024 will debut the first batch of Ascension teams, with G2 debuting as the Americas Ascension team. This was possible due to G2 signing four former members of The Guard, who defeated M80 3-1 to win the Americas Ascension Championship last year. Unfortunately for the players, The Guard did not meet the Team Participation Agreement deadline for VCT Americas, seemingly costing The Guard their Ascension spot.
After much public outrage, Riot Games changed its mind and granted the players of The Guard the opportunity to ascend to the VCT Americas League by joining another organization. G2 initially already had a Partner spot in the VCT Americas League but lost it due to a controversy involving then-CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez.
VCT Americas Kickoff Tournament Format
February 16-February 25: Group Stage
The first two rounds of the VCT Americas Kickoff will have the qualifying teams competing in a GSL Group Stage. Groups A and B have four competing teams, while Group C has three. The Group stage matches will be best-of-three Double Elimination.
Thanks to their victory at Valorant Champions 2023, Evil Geniuses received a bye and will play their first match against the winner between KRÜ Esports and G2.
The top team from all three Groups immediately advance to the Playoffs, and the runner-ups advance to the Play-In.
February 26: Play-In
On February 26, the three qualifying teams will compete in best-of-3 Single Round Robin matches. The winner advances to the Playoffs.
March 2-March 3: Playoffs
The Playoffs will utilize a Single Elimination bracket. Semifinals are best-of-3, and the Grand Finals will be best-of-five. The top two teams will secure their Americas representative spots at VCT 2024 Masters Madrid, and the first-place team will earn 3 Championship points.

VTC Americas Kickoff will go down at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles, California. Ticket sales for VCT Americas Kickoff are live over at TIXR.
