French esports organisation Team Vitality has launched a limited edition jersey for the Counter-Strike 2 Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, set to take place in China next month.
The team first showcased the ‘Shanghai Major Limited Edition White Fan Jersey’ at the Perfect World Shanghai Major Europe RMR A, the event’s qualifier, in which the team went unbeaten to secure a spot at the Major.
The limited edition jersey was created in collaboration with Paris-based contemporary artist Nairone. According to a release, the jersey aims to pay tribute to Counter-Strike and Team Vitality’s Chinese fanbase. The product was unveiled in a video released on X showing the China-inspired design on the back of the jersey in the shape of a V.
The announcement is part of a new campaign that Team Vitality is running across all of its Chinese social media accounts named ‘The Year of Vitality.’
The campaign is a tribute to Chinese culture, with the organisation choosing the dragon and a gold and red colour scheme (China’s national colours) to represent the campaign. Each part of the campaign will draw inspiration from Chinese iconography.
The brand also announced that it will only be stocking 150 jerseys at €89,99 (~£75) a piece.
Team Vitality is among a long list of esports organisations that collaborate with local artists and brands to create limited-edition jerseys for specific events. This includes Indian esports organisation Global Esports, which collaborated with artist Santanu Hazarika for a VCT jersey, and Gen.G in 2023 when it worked with apparel brand The Hundreds to unveil a Worlds jersey.
Fabien ‘Neo’ Devide, Chairman and Co-founder of Team Vitality commented on the announcement: “We are thrilled to compete at the Shanghai Major and showcase the team’s hard work against the best teams globally. Growing our global presence and supporting both players and our worldwide community remains a top priority.
“We’re especially excited for zywOo to deliver a stellar performance in front of our Chinese fans. I am incredibly proud of the team and can’t wait to see them on the big stage with our fans in China!”
