Ever played The Simpsons: Tapped Out, the city-building mobile game by EA (Electronic Arts)? Well, it’s been around for twelve years now. It dropped in 2012 on Apple’s App Store and in 2013 on Google Play. The bad news is that EA has decided to sunset the game.

When Is It Shutting Down?

In-app purchases have already been disabled in The Simpsons: Tapped Out. Starting October 31st, 2024, you won’t be able to download the game anymore. However, if you want to stick around as long as possible, you can keep playing until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will finally go offline.

The sunset announcement came with a heartfelt thank you from EA to all the game’s players. The partnership with The Simpsons and The Walt Disney Company allowed players to build their own versions of Springfield for over a decade.

You Still Have The Chance, Will You Play The Simpsons: Tapped Out?

If you haven’t played it already and want to try it out once before it shuts down, here’s a quick lowdown on the game. It lets you be in charge of Springfield, rebuilding it after Homer accidentally caused a meltdown that wiped it out.

From Homer’s chaotic rebuilding efforts to Marge, Lisa, and even Bart getting back on track, you craft Springfield however you please. You can also play with characters like Fat Tony to outfits like Daredevil Bart. You can even expand the town to Springfield Heights, and even run the Kwik-E-Mart like Apu.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a freemium game. It often dropped updates tied to the show’s storylines and real-life holiday events. While the game itself is free to download, donuts are the real fuel behind the fun.

If you want to try it out before they pull the plug, grab it from the Google Play Store. And be sure to read our scoop on eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, A New Game Coming To Mobile This Fall!
