Who are the best Strinova characters to play as? There are 18 agents, or characters, to choose from currently in iDreamSky’s third-person tactical shooter. These are split into five different roles, and therefore all play very uniquely. It’s important to master their mechanics and abilities, as well as knowing where to position yourself in the arena to work towards victory with your teammates.
While there are Strinova codes available to help with some freebies towards success in the anime game, the only way to ensure you’re contributing positively to your team’s success is by being intricately familiar with your chosen agent, but how do you decide who that is? We’ll run down the best Strinova characters, their abilities, and how difficult they are to master in our Strinova tier list below.
Strinova tier list
The best Strinova characters are:
Tier | Agent |
S | Ming, Lawine, Michele, Yugiri, Celestia, Galatea |
A | Fuchsia, Fragrans, Flavia, Kanami |
B | Reiichi, Meredith, Yvette, Bai Mo, Kokona |
C | Nobunaga, Maddelena, Audrey, Eika, Yvette |
It’s important to note that all of the Strinova characters have the potential to be fantastic in the right hands, as their abilities and ultimates are varied and efficient. However, we’ve based our tier list on how quickly they can turn the tide of a battle, as well as how easy they are to master when you understand how they work. They’re separated into different roles, too, which are all explained below.
All Strinova characters and abilities
There’s a whole host of adorable anime characters in Strinova, and some are more difficult to master than others. We’ll split this list in alphabetical order, so you can easily find your desired agent and learn all about them, their abilities and ultimate, and whether they suit your playstyle. The Strinova characters are:
Audrey
Audrey is the head of the Grove family, a force powerful once upon a time in Strinova before being betrayed by her uncle, an act which destroyed the family business. She is on a quest to restore the family name’s glory by working with Urbino.
While her high rate of fire in deployment mode and her shield generation are a force to be reckoned with, she is vulnerable to being flanked, grenades, smoke bombs, and snipers that aim at her legs, where her shield doesn’t reach to protect. Ming’s Sunder Blast skill is especially effective and can easily pierce through Audrey’s shield.
- Weapon: Champion (LMG) – Audrey’s LMG is remarkably powerful, with a 1.25x scope. It can also be put into deployment mode.
- Active Skill: Guns Blazing – Audrey enters deployment mode which significantly increases her fire rate and removes the need to reload. Extended firing will cause her Champion to overheat and disables shooting temporarily.
- Passive Skill: Royal Shield – Audrey generates a front-facing shield when changing firing modes, with increased shield capacity while deployed.
- Ultimate: Bombardment – Audrey deploys a grenade launcher that fires up to six grenades, each of which releases ricochet shrapnel that ignites the ground upon impact.
Bai Mo
Bai Mo is the leader of Urbino, a commercial alliance focused on art and technology, researching Bablo crystals with the ultimate aim of achieving interdimensional travel.
He’s powerful if used efficiently but can be hard to master, making him a vulnerability in the field. He excels at flanking and can execute powerful attacks. We’d recommend not taking his single-bullet upgrade, as it has a big effect on his normal gameplay.
- Weapon: Freedom Reign (Shotgun) – Equipped with a 1.25x scope, Freedom Reign is a semi-automatic shotgun with ghost ring sights to improve accuracy.
- Active Skill: Blitz Waltz – Bai Mo zooms forward to automatically reload his shotgun with two shells. This refreshes after kills and assists.
- Passive Skill: Dance Shackle – Bai Mo’s primary weapon string-blocks enemies after dealing 50 damage or more in a single shot.
- Ultimate: Streetfighter – Bai Mo places a beacon which he is automatically teleported back to if he is downed or killed. Pressing the ultimate again will teleport him there at any time and restore his HP.
Celestia
Celestia is one of the first characters you meet in Strinova, and performs a support role as a healer. She is the founder of the Astral Sanctuary.
While her weapon is a little weak, the rest of her kit is focused on healing her allies. The armor she provides is temporary, so to master Celestia you’ll need to focus on using her abilities at the optimal time to extend their efficiency.
- Weapon: Polaris (Auto rifle) – Polaris has good accuracy, a smooth trigger pull, and is equipped with a 1.25x scope, but lacks in firepower.
- Active Skill: Guardian Star – Celestia grants a star to an ally which regenerates their armor and increases their max armor. The star then returns to her, granting the same armor buffs to Celestia. It can stack.
- Passive Skill: Cosmic Recovery – Celestia will gradually restore her own armor and that of nearby allies at a rate of two per second.
- Ultimate: Astral Gate – Celestia grants armor to an ally and begins charging energy. When fully charged, she teleports to their location. You can cancel the teleportation by pressing the Ultimate key again, and this retains the armor boost.
Eika
Eika, sometimes stylized as Aika, is a high school student in Strinova and works for her family’s restaurant as a delivery worker when she isn’t studying.
Eika is most effective at close range thanks to her shotgun, and her skills are also geared towards causing chaos in tight spaces. She’s a duelist, meaning she’s a good choice for those familiar with tactical shooters.
- Weapon: Wildfire (Shotgun) – Fully automatic combat shotgun.
- Active Skill: Purgatory – Eika summons a spherical Flame Cage which causes Burn damage to enemies that pass through it. The skill will end if no enemies pass throgh. While Eika stands in the Flame Cage, her weapon deals additional Burn damage to enemies inside. Consuming 100 Heat will increase the damage of the cage’s wall.
- Passive Skill: Sol Battery – Each shot on an enemy accumulates Heat, up to a maximum of 100 Heat. At maximum, damage against stringified enemies increases.
- Ultimate: Firestorm – Eika summons up to three Firestorms per round, force gliding and dealing Burn damage to enemies in range. Consuming 100 Heat increases the size of the Firestorm, Burn damage, and highlights enemies.
Flavia
Flavia, as a Duelist, has a kit geared towards survivability. She is a special agent of Painting Utopia Security in Strinova, and wields a dangerous SMG.
Not much else is known about Flavia’s background just yet, but if you’re looking for a strong all-round beginner character to choose, she could be a good option for your playstyle.
- Weapon: Solo (SMG) – A light-weight submachine gun with exceptional rate of fire and precision compared to other similar weapons. It has a 1.25x scope, too.
- Active Skill: Phantom Mirage – When Flavia takes damage, she transforms into a phantom butterfly that cannot be targeted. She summons a Phantom Orb that obstructs enemy vision, but this can be destroyed.
- Passive Skill: Retribution – Flavia’s active skill cooldown reduces when she takes damage. If she takes significant damage, she gains temporary ultimate points valid for the current round. Damaging herself will not trigger Retribution.
- Ultimate: Phantom Flutter – Flavia generates a Phantom Zone at her location. Within the zone, enemy fatal attacks trigger her Phantom Mirage, transforming her into a butterfly to evade death. Enemies outside of the zone ignore the effect but can only see Flavia if she attacks them first.
Fuchsia
The pink-haired Fuchsia is a mercenary employed by Urbino. While she is exceptionally skilled in combat, she has little other skills or knowledge.
When she’s deployed on missions, Fuchsia wears a mask that absorbs Bablo energy to enhance her abilities. She is young, so has been known to be naive and easy to deceive. She makes up for that with her strength and abilities tenfold, though.
- Weapon: Sawtooth (AR) – Fuchsia’s battle rifle balances power and stability with a 1.25x scope for great effect.
- Active Skill: Apex Predator – Fuchsia exposes nearby enemies, but only she can see them. Full HP enemies appear briefly, but those under 100HP will remain visible as long as the skill is active. Exposing enemies also boosts her movement speed.
- Passive Skill: Hunter’s Feast – Enemies killed or assists by Fuchsia drop Energy Crystals, which she can absorb to restore HP. The first one she absorbs also raises her max HP by 40.
- Ultimate: Bloodbath – This is what makes Fuchsia such a tank. She greatly boosts her fire rate and weapon usability, allowing her active skill to highlight enemies. Absorbing Energy Crystals extends the skill’s duration.
Galatea
Galatea is an artist and magician of Urbino in Strinova. Her younger sister is Maddelena, but Galatea differs from her in that she is renowned for her talent. She is highly mobile, able to flank enemies at unexpected locations.
Galatea is not an agent we would recommend for beginners or anyone that isn’t confident in Strinova as she is very difficult to master. Her weapon is relatively underpowered, so she isn’t used much in the Chinese version of the game’s ranked mode.
- Weapon: Trickster (AR) – A high-performance, weather-resistant assault rifle that’s equipped with a 1.25x scope.
- Active Skill: Wild Card – Galatea throws a card in an arc. When impacting with the ground or a wall it creates a decoy that confuses enemies. Galatea can teleport to the decoy.
- Passive Skill: Deception – Galatea leaves behind a decoy whenever she unsticks from a wall. The passive only goes on cooldown if a decoy is damaged. Her decoys can briefly detect nearby enemies not hidden behind obstacles. Enemies attacking the decoy are also exposed.
- Ultimate: Mirage – Galatea tosses several cards forward, each creating a decoy for teleportation.
Kanami
Kanami secretly works for The Scissors, a military faction that strongly opposes the values of the Painting Utopia Security faction. The Scissors hope to return to earth, the place they consider the true home of humanity, instead of existing solely in Strinova.
Kanami is a talented actress and singer, but in combat she excels at revealing the enemy’s position with soundwaves. She can even hold an impromptu concert to distract and entice foes.
- Weapon: Finale (SR) – Kanami’s sniper rifle utilizes a short-recoil barrel system and semi-automatic firing with a 2.5x scope.
- Active Skill: Echo Chamber – Kanami’s next shot fires a Sonar Disk that scans for unobstructed enemies within a 180-degree arc in front of it. Detected enemies are revealed to the entire ally team.
- Passive Skill: Echo Reveal – Kanami’s shots generate a Sonar Zone at the impact point. Enemies within the area are exposed.
- Ultimate: Showtime – Kanami summons a holographic figure of herself that pulls in enemies within a certain range, reducing their movement speed and accuracy.
Kokona
Kokona is a P.U.S. investigator and instructor who has mentored many young investigators. She is gentle and cheerful, but loves an inappropriate joke from time to time.
As a support character, she plays the role of a medic, and carries two healing drones in combat. Her sniper rifle is not to be messed with though, do not mistake this support character for one with weak damage output.
- Weapon: Quasar (SR) – Kokona’s tactical intervention sniper rifle combines power, precision, and steal with a 2.5x scope.
- Active Skill: Healing Drone – Kokona deploys a healing drone that hovers over a chosen ally to restore their armor as well as healing all nearby allies.
- Passive Skill: First Aid – When out of combat, Kokona’s HP regenerates slowly. When rescuing an ally, Kokona deploys a drone to do so automatically.
- Ultimate: Reconstruction – Kokona revives a fallen ally at her location.
Lawine
Lawine is the taciturn executor of The Scissors. She carries out her missions in the shadows, specializing in stealth and reconnaissance.
Lawine’s pulse blade is lethal, slashing through her enemies and using electromagnetic fields to her advantage. She is a vanguard character, and we’d recommend using her if you prefer a stealthy approach to combat.
- Weapon: Shadow (AR) – A short assault rifle with high stability and accuracy, equipped with a 1.25x scope.
- Active Skill: Pulse Blade – Lawine throws a Pulse Blade that creates an electromagnetic field, exposing enemies to her team. The Pulse Blade vanishes if no enemies are detected, or after three scans.
- Passive Skill: Shadow Reveal – Enemies hit by Lawine’s primary weapon are briefly exposed to her.
- Ultimate: Stealth Master – Lawine creates a stealth zone and becomes invisible upon entering it, but she cannot fire within the zone.
Maddelena
Maddelena is Galatea’s less talented sibling, according to Strinova lore. She’s an artist with a focus on painting and Urbino developed a special spray gun for her to play a supportive role in battle.
Her paint gun is her strongest asset, but she also focuses on string-blocking and tracking enemies. She’s a controller character, who can be tricky to use effectively, but certainly worth the time investment it takes to learn her skillset.
- Weapon: Chroma (DMR) – Balancing power and range effectively, Maddelena’s marksman rifle is effective at suppressing mid-to-long-range enemies.
- Active Skill: Pigment Bind – Maddelena fires a splash of paint that slows enemies, string-blocks them, and reveals their tracks.
- Passive Skill: Paint Tracks – Hits from Maddelena’s Chroma weapon slow enemies and expose their tracks.
- Ultimate: Paint Bubble – Maddelena fires a giant bubble that string-blocks and tracks enemies within it. When it bursts, it slows and makes enemies vulnerable within the blast area.
Meredith
Meredith is the leader of The Scissors. She comes across as wise and mysterious, especially when wielding her pyramid device, which she somehow uses to summon sandstorms and control battles.
She is difficult to master, as her kit is versatile making it hard to choose which abilities to focus on. She has several awakening options, but as her first allows for opening up new routes to successfully flank, we tend to opt for this. For example, enemies will usually avoid the center lane in Port Euler, but her skill allows teammates to fly from the center to point B through high-up openings.
- Weapon: Falcon (AR) – A classic weapon from old Earth equipped with a 1.25x scope.
- Active Skill: Sandstorm – Meredith fires an energy orb that unleashes a Sandstorm upon impact, reducing enemy movement speed and weapon usability, while also temporarily draining their HP.
- Passive Skill: Zeroth Rings – While airborne, Meredith’s descent speed greatly reduces when aiming with weapons, skills, or tactical items.
- Ultimate: Sand Burial – Meredith summons a Haboob, obscuring vision, pulling enemies toward the center, and temporarily draining their HP.
Michele
As a rookie member of Painting Utopia Security in Strinova, Michele is also an avid gamer. She transfers those skills to real-world combat alongside her seniors Kokona an Nobunaga.
Michele’s assault rifle is a great option for beginners to the game, as it’s easy to use and effective. Her active skill can be used to gather information, while her ultimate is one of the strongest in the game.
- Weapon: Inspector (AR) – Relentless firepower and a good balance of accuracy and fire rate, equipped with a 1.25x scope.
- Active Skill: Pawtector – Michele deploys a Pawtector that sticks to surfaces, attacking and slowing nearby enemies.
- Passive Skill: Kitty Tracer – Michele reveals enemies through walls when they hit her with direct fire.
- Ultimate: Mighty Meowblast – Michele deploys a powerful turret that automatically attacks nearby enemies.
Ming
Ming is a member of The Scissors, set on overthrowing the Painting Utopia Security faction. She was once a soldier, and the years spent in combat have given her an edge.
She wields an electromagnetic arm that is capable of manipulating electric currents to aid her attacks and skills. Use Ming as a frontal assault to push forward, as she can absorb a lot of damage and even heal passively thanks to her skills. If you communicate and cooperate effectively with your team, Ming is an essential asset.
- Weapon: Rebelflame (AR) – Powerful firepower and weather-resistant, equipped with a 1.25x scope.
- Active Skill: Sunder Blast – Ming fires an electric orb that explodes on impact or on command, damaging armor and creating a slowing electric field. She gains movement speed within the same field.
- Passive Skill: Aegis Absorb – Ming regenerates armor based on the damage her weapons and active skill deal to enemy armor and shields. Her temporary armor regenerates faster during her ultimate.
- Ultimate: Shield Surge – Ming gains temporary armor and her shots apply a stacking slow effect. Damaging enemy armor with her weapons and active skill extends skill duration and replenishes her temporary armor.
Nobunaga
Nobunaga is a captain of the Painting Utopia Society, acting rationally and reliably. His brother, Reiichi, betrayed him to join The Scissors, and he has not forgotten this.
His semi-automatic rifle can be upgraded to be fully automatic. His skills work more effectively when he is in range of his Guardian Eyes, which grant him temporary survivability and weapon buffs. When his ultimate, Pulse Overload, is unleashed, it’s best to avoid fighting in its range if you’re against him on the enemy team.
- Weapon: Judge (DMR) – A semi-automatic rifle that can be upgraded to fully automatic. It uses high-powered rounds for effectiveness and is equipped with a 1.5x scope.
- Active Skill: Guardian Eye – Nobunaga can deploy up to two Guardian Eyes. Within their range, gain increased rate of fire, weapon usability, and armor regeneration. The bonuses are enhanced further when in range of both Guardian Eyes.
- Passive Skill: Blinding Shot – Nobunaga charges his shots in ADS mode. Fully charged shots cause enemies to lose their crosshairs while aiming.
- Ultimate: Pulse Overload – Nobunaga deploys a Pulse Generator that emits waves in all directions, revealing struck enemies to all teammates and inflicting silence.
Reiichi
Reichii is a cold sniper, member of The Scissors, and betrayed P.U.S. in a mission that his brother Nobunaga struggles to forget.
Reichii’s semi-automatic rifle is ideal for mid-range fights, and his Ligh Screen is powerful for obstructing enemy vision when attacking a bomb site in the Demolition game mode, or pushing the payload in Escort missions. Combining his ultimate with his third awakening means that your entire team can benefit from a huge advantage.
- Weapon: Dawn (DMR) – Reiichi’s stable and durable marksman rifle has specially weighted rounds to enhance long-range accuracy, and a 2.5x scope.
- Active Skill: Daybreak – Reiichi deploys his umbrella to create a Light Screen, castable vertically or horizontally, that obscures enemy vision.
- Passive Skill: Dawn’s Insight – Reiichi periodically scans for enemies while in ADS mode. Scanned enemies are exposed briefly but only to him.
- Ultimate: Sanctified Shield – Reiichi instantly refreshes his active skill, enhancing the Light Screen to block all enemy bullets.
Yugiri
Yugiri is able to wield poison following an accident during an experiment. She is under the supervision of P.U.S.
Her poisonous kit is lethal to enemies, and the damage-over-time effect of her skills is unlike anything else in Strinova, making her easy to learn as a beginner.
- Active Skill: Corrosive Mist – Yugiri deploys a snail device that releases a spherical mist on activation, temporarily eroding the armor of nearby enemies.
- Passive Skill: Toxin Burst – Upon dealing sufficient HP damage to an enemy with her main weapon, corrosive toxins erupt from the target, temporarily eroding the armor of nearby enemies.
- Ultimate: Venomous Formation – Yugiri unleashes a sweeping mist that steadily advances forward, eroding the armor cap of enemies within its path.
Yvette
Yvette is a genius researcher supported by P.U.S. in Strinova. She is introverted, speaking mainly to her plushie, Fay, who she takes everywhere. Fay can also aid Yvette in battle.
Fay can create immobilizing frost, which when used correctly can be hugely efficient in slowing the enemy. Working alongside teammates who can reveal enemies is the most effective way to use Yvette and Fay.
- Weapon: Beareas (SMG) – A lightweight SMG with high rate of fire and 1.25x scope.
- Active Skill: Teddy Assault – Yvette summons Fay, a controllable teddy bear that creates an icy surface upon colliding or on command, causing slipping and increased vulnerability.
- Passive Skill: Camouflage – Yvette becomes camouflaged after standing still, remaining invisible to distant enemies and gradually visible to those closer.
- Ultimate: Yvette summons a Frost Bear that creates 3 polar zones in succession, causing enemies to slip, slowing their rate of fire, and reducing weapon usability.
Strinova roles explained
The Strinova roles are Sentinel, Duelist, Controller, Support, and Initiator. Given the game’s unique dimension-switching mechanic that allows you to transform from 3D to 2D and back again in a pinch, the roles are present to go the extra mile in differentiating one character from the next, and adding a purpose to those agents in each match.
Sentinel
The three Sentinel characters in Strinova are Audrey, Michele, and Nobunaga. They excel at defending key positions in arenas and disrupting an enemy attack. They’re best positioned at narrow points of the map, or areas where enemies have the potential to flank. Michele, for example, has a powerful turret that will automatically fire at in-range foes, while Nobunaga can silence enemies with his ultimate to disrupt their abilities for a short while.
Duelist
The Duelist characters in Strinova are Bai Mo, Eika, Flavia, Fuchsia, and Ming. Duelists are a good starting point for anyone familiar with tactical shooters, such as Valorant. They can quickly find and eliminate enemies, dictating matches. Ming, for example, can slow movement while increasing her armor regeneration rate.
Controller
The Controller characters in Strinova are Maddelena, Mereditch, Yugiri, Yvette, and Reiichi. Controllers focus on securing important areas of advantage within the arena and minimizing the efficiency of the enemy team. For example, Maddelena can slow enemy movement and string-block them, preventing them from using the vital 2D to 3D shift technology needed to evade bullets, climb walls, and slip through small gaps.
Support
The Support characters in Strinova are Celestia, Fragrans, and Kokona. Support characters are fairly self explanatory. If you’ve played any role-based shooter, you’ll have recognized support characters and their importance. They ensure the survival of their team, and can sometimes boost their attack abilities too. Celestia, for example, can restore and increase allied armor, and Kokona’s drone can seek out and automatically revive downed teammates.
Initiator
The Initiator characters in Strinova are Galatea, Kanami, and Lawine. Formerly known as Vanguard characters prior to Strinova’s global release, the Initiator is a challenging role. They gather important information from enemy teams, revealing their locations. You’re best playing the Initiator characters stealthily, finding a hidden vantage point. While Lawine and Kanami can reveal the location of the enemy, Galatea can drop decoys to show false allied locations to the other team.
