We’ve seen a rise in players collecting the Starfield achievements. Although it hasn’t received the warmest welcome from fans, Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion has led to an 87% Xbox player increase for the Xbox RPG.Starfield’s Xbox player count blows up following Shattered Space launchStarfield’s Shattered Space expansion is now out, adding a whole new planet to explore alongside a new storyline. According to our data, which scans a sample of over 2.4 million Xbox accounts (courtesy of Game Insights) there has been an 87% spike in Xbox players since Shattered Space launched on September 30, which has pushed Starfield into the top ten of our latest Xbox Gameplay Chart. Starfield was a huge hit for Bethesda when it launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023, becoming the developer’s “biggest” game launch of all time and rocketing into the number one spot on our Gameplay Chart at release — it became Xbox’s biggest release of 2023 even during its early access period. Despite its obvious popularity and the backing of Xbox Game Pass, Starfield eventually dropped out of the top ten and then the Gameplay Chart altogether. Over the last year, we’ve seen Bethesda roll out several updates for Starfield, adding vehicles, mods, and the like, which has led to its player count spiking with each rollout a bit. In May, a 60fps mode was added to the game via a massive update, which also added surface maps and other quality-of-life improvements, pushing Starfield into the top 20 with a 72% boost in Xbox players. It managed to stay in the top 40 since then, giving it a great platform to leap from this week. It’s great to see the game return to the top of the chart, but it’s unlikely to hold that position for long — such is the way for single-player games. Judging by Starfield’s history of floating around the lower end of the top 40 following content updates, I imagine we’ll see it stay in the chart for some time to come, however, just not quite so high once the main audience finish the Shattered Space Xbox achievements. In a recent interview, Starfield’s design director said that “in some ways,” Starfield is Bethesda’s “best game.”Xbox Gameplay Chart data is compiled using data from over 2.4 million active Xbox accounts (not just TrueAchievements accounts). Chart information is copyright Game Insights. Regarding this data:When an account opens a game, this is registered as a game being played. Accounts can only register a game once per week. Our data is good for suggesting general trends — we represent this using percentages, not numbers.
