Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC won’t be its last as Bethesda plans annual expansions

We could see fresh Starfield achievements arrive annually, as Bethesda plans to release yearly Starfield story expansions for the foreseeable future. Bethesda recently gave us our first look at the upcoming Shattered Space DLC, which launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC later this year, but the team is already planning next year’s expansion.Bethesda is already planning Starfield’s second expansionStarfield is a huge game already, offering us the freedom to explore the universe in our own way as we attempt to learn its secrets, and ultimately find that some questions can’t be answered. Bethesda does plan to answer some questions, however, and provide more insight into the stories Starfield already has. The game’s first expansion, Shattered Space, arrives later this year, offering us an adventure to learn more about House Va’Runn in the city of Dazra as a “mysterious power stirs” on the faction’s hidden homeworld. We’ll be exploring a crafted new planet to battle a cosmic threat, hoovering up new weapons, spacesuits, and gear along the way.Bethesda doesn’t plan to stop there, though, at least not for the foreseeable future, as the team plans to continue rolling out new annual content for the game’s 14 million players. Speaking during an interview with MrMattyPlays, Starfield game director Todd Howard confirmed that Bethesda is already planning Starfield’s second expansion.”I would say we want to more or less, yeah,” Howard replied when asked if Bethesda plans to release annual story content to answer the game’s many mysteries. “How long that continues; hopefully a very long time, but we’re planning for the one after [Shattered Space], so there will be another one. I don’t know that our goal is to answer every question. We sort of look at it and say, ‘Hey, what’s a good angle? What do we want to add to the game as far as an experience or a tone?’ or those kinds of things if that makes sense.” Shattered Space still doesn’t have a solid release date, but it arrives sometime this fall. As for other Starfield news, the game’s latest update, which added user-created content via the Creation Club, saw the game get review bombed by unhappy fans.
