Bethesda Game Studios launched its space RPG Starfield on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass in September, and in that time, over 12 million players have explored the Settled Systems. During an appearance at CCPXP23, Phil Spencer confirmed that Starfield has been a success for the teams at Xbox, and has seen more than 12 million players jump in since it launched into early access on September 1. Those impressive numbers put Bethesda’s latest in the “top ten most played games” from Xbox Game Studios.Starfield is slowly dropping down the list in our TrueAchievements gameplay chart, and was just about still in the top ten last week, clinging on to 9th position for dear life. In the interview above, Spencer thanked fans for making the space-set RPG a “tremendous hit.” We had seen how well Starfield was going to do, because even before it launched for all players and into the Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass libraries, Starfield had seen tens of thousands of registered TrueAchievements members jump in to play during its early access period. This made it Microsoft’s best launch of the year… before launch. Come launch day, Phil Spencer confirmed that over one million concurrent players were playing Starfield, making it the “biggest Bethesda game launch of all time.”In our Starfield review, we said that the game “delivered what it promised: an almost endless adventure we’ll still be discovering new details about years down the line.”
