Starfield bugs are a part of the experience, says Bethesda exec

It’s well known at this point that Bethesda games are always a little buggy at launch, and it’s likely that players who are already working their way through the Starfield achievments have found a few bugs here and there in sci-fi RPG. Pete Hines, Bethesda’s head of global publishing, believes that these bugs are a part of the experience and that Bethesda could have made a cleaner game, but it wanted to focus on giving players more freedom. Starfield devs prioritized player freedom over making a “less buggy, less risky game””We embrace chaos,” Hines told GamesIndustry.biz, “We could make a safer, less buggy, less risky game if we wanted to. But what we try to lean into is player freedom. Yes, there’s going to be some little things here and there where your companion might stand a little too close to you sometimes, yet the freedom you get, and the things that happen because of that, we absolutely love and embrace.”Of course, there are bugs. But does it take away from your experience? Or do you have a consistent, fun game that you just can’t stop playing and experimenting with?”From our time with the game, it’s clear that Starfield is a much more polished experience than previous Bethesda RPGs, though we have come across a few bugs in our time exploring the stars but nothing game-breaking. Pete Hines also revealed that Arkane is still working on Redfall to bring a 60fps mode to the shooter and also make it into a “good game.”Starfield officially launches in just a couple of days on September 6 and is easily one of the biggest games coming to Game Pass this month.
