Fans of the best Xbox strategy games can breathe a sigh of relief as development on Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game is to continue despite EA announcing a plan to move away from “future licensed IP” to focus on its own franchises and sports titles. Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game “unaffected” by EA restructureEA recently announced it was laying off 5% of its workforce (around 700 employees) and adjusting its business model, which resulted in the publisher canceling a new first-person shooter from Respawn. This FPS was announced back in 2022 alongside Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and a new Star Wars strategy game led by developer Bit Reactor. Now, Bit Reactor has shared an update about the game, confirming it is still in development. “Last week was difficult for the industry, and more so because of our strong relationships within the other teams at Respawn,” the developer said on Twitter. “But for those asking, we are still hard at work, and our game was unaffected by last week’s news.”Bit Reactor was formed back in 2022 and is made up of Firaxis Games veterans who worked on the excellent strategy franchises XCOM and Civilization. While we have had many Star Wars first-person shooter games in the past, Star Wars strategy games are a bit of a rarity, so it’s good to see that development on Bit Reactor’s title will continue. In other Star Wars news, Aspyr is reviving the original Star Wars Battlefront games for modern consoles.
