Free-to-play FPS Splitgate was due to launch today following its beta period but has now been delayed to August so developer 1047 Games can increase server capacity after receiving a whopping $10 million investment from a venture capital firm.Splitgate saw a massive surge in popularity when its beta, which added cross-play between Xbox and Playstation consoles and PC, launched earlier this month. As a result, over two million people downloaded the game, which caused an abundance of critical server issues and 1047 Games having to take briefly take Splitgate offline twice.Now, the developer has announced it is delaying Splitgate’s full release until August after having received $10 million to increase the game’s server capacity and that Splitgate’s beta will return today and remain available until the game launches in full. Planned launch content, including three new maps and customisation options, will also be added to the beta, and players will also be able to complete the Beta Battlepass. 1047 Games hasn’t given a definitive release date for Splitgate’s 1.0 launch, but we’ll update you as soon as we find out more.
