We saw more players unlocking Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 achievements during the game’s launch week than any other Warhammer 40K game. proving it’s been a hit with players. Now, it seems Saber Interactive is eager to bring us more, with Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 sequel and DLC ideas already bubbling away at the developer.Saber Interactive’s chief creative officer “would love” to make Space Marine 3Prior to Space Marine 2’s launch earlier this month, Saber Interactive shared the game’s roadmap, which includes a host of free updates filled with new game modes, maps, and classes, as well as cosmetic bundles for Season Pass owners. The roadmap didn’t mention any expansions or story content, but following the game’s success, it sounds like Saber might cook up some post-launch story content after all.Saber Interactive chief creative officer Tim Willits recently told IGN that the team can now “dream bigger” with Space Marine 2 and will make “adjustments” to the roadmap once things have settled with the game’s launch. Apparently, ideas for story DLC and Space Marine 3 are already floating around. “Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko, has proposed some story ideas that could either be DLC or a sequel,” Willits said. “We’re literally just catching our breath. This is two weeks out. We just need to get the dust to settle. But I can confidently say that we will not disappoint our Warhammer fans in the future. It’s too big of a success! I know that’s an obvious thing to say, but hopefully, we’ll be working on Space Marine content for a long time.”There aren’t any plans for a sequel currently, as that would need to be floated with Games Workshop and Focus Entertainment, but Willets would “love” to work on another game. “We just have to figure it out. I would love to do it, yes. Yes, yes, yes! There’s so many different factions… there are other chapters, too, that are interesting…”While Space Marine 2’s success is fantastic news for the franchise and a great win for the team, Willits says it will also have a positive impact on Saber Interactive’s upcoming games, such as John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, as well as games it’s publishing, like A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead. “As employees, and I know this firsthand, when you have a big hit and you have that internet kind of popularity, there’s more passion and there’s more responsibility for the quality that you do,” Willits said. “And you look at yourself through a different lens. And sometimes that success lens can be a little dangerous because then you get so paranoid about making sure everything is great that you overstress about things, but it’s that success lens that really drives amazing games into the future. So I do believe that through the success lens that we have, we will just make far better products in the future.”As for Space Marine 2 updates arriving in the near future, the developer has confirmed that Veteran difficulty tweaks, bot fixes, and more are on the way.
