South Dakota State is looking to finish off a dominant playoff run Saturday against Sam Houston State in the FCS National Championship.
The NCAA Division I football season comes to a close Saturday as South Dakota State and Sam Houston State square off in the FCS National Championship. The season was delayed because of COVID-19, but this title game should prove to be worth the wait.
The SDSU Jackrabbits enter as the top seed even though the Bearkats of Sam Houston State are undefeated on the season. But the two best teams are in the championship game and that makes for some great May football.
SDSU started the postseason with a blowout win over Holy Cross before a tight game with Southern Illinois. Then came another blowout, this time over Delaware, to clinch the title game berth.
Sam Houston State had a tougher path with three single-digit victories to reach this point. They also came back from a 24-3 halftime deficit in the semis against James Madison. The Bearkats just like to keep things interesting.

It is usually North Dakota State being talked about as the favorites in this game. Now the focus has shifted to their southern neighbors in South Dakota. This game should be close, but the defense of the Jackrabbits should be strong enough to prevent any major meltdown late in the game.
Prediction: South Dakota State 41, Sam Houston State 35
