The Sony Xperia 1 III smartphone was announced over two months ago, with promises to be launched “at the start of this summer”. The Sony United States division has now listed the phone with a pre-order date of July 1. The price will be $1,299.99, which is pretty much the same worldwide, including Russia and China.
The Xperia 1 III is the first smartphone globally with a 4K 120Hz OLED screen. It brings variable focal length telephoto lens, ZEISS lenses with T* coating on all three 12MP shooters, and 4K video recording at 120fps.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, with 12GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage, of the latest LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 varieties.
Sony US is offering the Xperia 1 III for pre-order through B&H and other retailers but is yet to reveal the actual shipping date. Another big unknown is the availability of the smaller sibling, the Xperia 5 III – we have no info whatsoever about its arrival, but hopefully, it will tag along.
