Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that PS5 shipments have reached 77.8 million worldwide, with 2.8 million moved during the three-month period ended March 31, 2025. Speaking during its financial results overnight, the format holder also revealed that PlayStation Network boasts 124 million monthly active users as of March 31, which represents an increase of six million over the same period last year. The number of PS5s shipped during this quarter is down 1.7 million year-on-year, however. Of these games, 5.9 million units were first-party titles, a figure that is down 6.4 million compared to the previous fiscal year, during which 12.3 million first-party games were sold. The PS5 was released during the midst of the coronavirus pandemic in November 2020, and quickly sold out at retailers.
