With its unique charm and deep mechanics, popular PC game Timelie has landed on Android in early access. It’s a stealth puzzle adventure that puts you in control of both a little girl with precognitive powers and her adorable cat companion.
What Do You Do in Timelie?
The game is a time-bending stealth puzzle where you fight evil robots. You sneak past enemies, solve tricky puzzles and manipulate time. You can pause, rewind and fast-forward to figure out the best way to move forward or even backward.
You try to outsmart robots who seem dead set on keeping you from escaping. You need to piece things together through atmosphere and interactions.
You control both characters, the girl and the cat, at the same time. You need to coordinate their movements to avoid detection and pull off a distraction with the cat while the girl sneaks by.
Timelie makes failure feel less frustrating. Instead of having to redo everything, you can just drag the timeline back and try a different move. This feature is pretty refreshing for a stealth puzzler.
Apart from acting as a distraction, the cat is helpful in other ways too. It squeezes into places the girl can’t reach. But other times, it’s just doing typical cat stuff and being more trouble than help! But it’s all part of the dynamic between the two characters.
Timelie has a clever progression in difficulty. Early on, it’s more about learning the basics and getting the timing down. But later levels make you focus on how to synchronize both characters without triggering alarms.
Some levels even have hidden challenges called relics that are totally optional but rewarding. On that note, why don’t you catch a glimpse of the game right here?
A Surreal Sci-Fi World
Timelie has colourful abstract visuals which make even an abandoned complex feel lively. The colours, the art style and the context all go so well together that some might even opt to play it just for the way it looks.
Snapbreak is handling the mobile version, while Urnique Studio originally developed it. You can grab Timelie from the Google Play Store and try out Act 1 for free.
